Contractor Saga

As you know, the contractor stopped by mid April to talk to us about our plans. He promised a quote in one week. In one week, there was no quote. We figured we would operate on contractor time and not call him again until it had been nearly 2 weeks. M called and left a message and asked him for the quote. He called back nearly a week after M left the message saying that he had started the quote but that he was really busy finishing up a house and he hasn't had time to finish it. The latest is that he is planning on dropping it off sometime this week. M did tell him that we are on a timeline because of the baby's due date and we need to get moving on this and that basically, if we don't have the quote by the end of the week we need to move on.

I'm sure it's a relatively small job, but seriously, is it that hard to pick up the phone and say that it's going to take him a bit longer than promised to get us the quote? I was in favor of moving on after he didn't return M's call but M wants to give him another shot. We have had several neighbors tell us he's done things on their homes, including an entire addition, and they were very happy with the work. The problem might be just getting him there....
