Another successful cookie day has been had by one and all...
The menu for this year:
Snickerdoodle Sandwich cookies
Voted the best of the day by all participating. I used a recipe I found online for the actual snickerdoodle cookies and used the sandwich cookie idea from a Better Homes and Garden magazine from last year.
Peanut Butter Bites
Also quite good and considered a keeper for next year. The dough is nice and peanut buttery too. Basically, it's an inverse peanut butter blossom but using a Reese's pb cup. You place it in the center of the dough, put more dough on top so that it's completely encased. Espcially good warm!
Sugar Cookies
This year I found a recipe that uses cake mix. Very good and moist but I think I prefer the other two.
Puppy Chow
How can you go wrong with this?
I made one batch of each. We gave a bunch to S and A and some to our neighbors so we actually don't have many left. I may just send the rest with M to work if my willpower is measuring high tomorrow morning!

Friends and Food
Yesterday, A and S came over to see the new house. E liked gathering sticks in the yard and hand delivering them to us and attempting to eat the acorns that adorn our back deck.
We tried a new Thai place for luch which was really good. In our old 'hood, we had zero Thai so we're glad that we have an inexpensive good place nearby. Unfortunately, haven't seen any Indian food yet :(
We also tried one of the two dairy stands near our house, I voted to go for the one where the line is usually the longest since they are both on the same road and within 1/2 mile of each other. It was ok, not great by any means. A kept finding chunks of ice in her ice cream and they got the order for E wrong. I, ever the fan of Dairy Queen Blizzards or it's brethen, was disappointed to see no nods in this direction. It was straight up ice cream in a cone or a dish or frappes. I got a malted frappe (Coffee Khalua Brownie) which could have been heavier on the malt powder. Oh well. We'll try the other one next time.
In gym news, I did a machine I have never seen nor tried before. It basically forces you to do a crunch by bringing your upper torso down and bringing your legs up. I did 10 and my lower abdominals are killing me today. Go machine!
Today I'm planning to attempt staining our unfinished bookcase...pics to follow

Post Weekend Reflection
Friday, I met up with a variety of past and current coworkers for a night out. It's always nice to catch up with people now that we're all going in different directions. Here's the run down on those I don't see too often:
M: in grad school hoping to apply to med school.
K: finishing med school, applying for residency, getting married in May
S: starting nursing school, leaving for another state in April
C: finished nursing school, awaiting the NCLEX, has job lined up
What a group of highly motivated friends!
